Rikenda Health Profile

What Is the Rikenda Health Profile — and Why Does It Start With a Number?

Before a Care Partner is assigned, and before a care plan is even drafted, every Rikenda member starts the exact same way — with a baseline, not a prescription.

Every Rikenda member starts the exact same way: with a baseline, not a prescription. Specifically, we look at five numbers — one representing each of the key health domains we actively monitor. Before a Care Partner is assigned, and before a care plan is even drafted, we establish what we call the Rikenda Health Profile.

It is the single most important thing that happens in a member’s first week with us — because everything that follows, every flag, every check-in, every Monthly Stability Certificate, is measured against it.

How the Profile Is Built

A new member goes through four structured steps:

  1. Basic information and emergency contacts — the administrative groundwork.
  2. The Exposome Intake — the person’s living and working environment.
  3. Lifestyle factors — sleep, exercise, diet, salt intake, smoking, alcohol use.
  4. Health background — existing conditions, current medications, family history.

These onboarding steps are vital. Together, they generate preliminary scores across five key clinical domains:

  • Cardiovascular Health
  • Renal Health
  • Metabolic Health
  • Hypertension and Circulatory Health
  • Oncology Risk Assessment

Once initial biomarker lab tests are completed, these preliminary scores are refined into highly accurate, personalized baselines.

The Power of the Personal Baseline

Most health tracking platforms make the mistake of comparing your numbers to a rigid population average. We don’t. A systolic blood pressure of 148 mmHg means something different for a person whose normal is 122 than it does for a person who has been sitting at 150 for three years. The number in isolation tells you very little. The number against a personal baseline tells you almost everything.

This is why the four intake steps matter as much as the biomarkers. A person’s exposome — their environment, their occupation, their diet, their financial and social context — shapes their baseline risk independently of what shows up in a blood test. Two people with identical lab results can have completely different health trajectories depending on their daily commute, job stress, and access to clean resources. The Rikenda Health Profile captures this context immediately, transforming personal circumstances into clinical variables that dictate how we monitor and escalate care.

A number in isolation tells you very little. The number against a personal baseline tells you almost everything.

How We Monitor Change

Once established, the profile scores are updated at every biomarker review cycle, using defined drift triggers specific to each domain — such as a specific decline in eGFR, a critical jump in HbA1c, or a sustained blood pressure elevation. Between lab visits, Care Partners run structured symptom checklists during regular interactions. Each reported symptom carries a clinical weight; as these weights accumulate, the system flags subtle, underlying changes. This proactive loop allows us to catch potential health risks early, rather than waiting for the next scheduled lab date or, worse, an emergency room visit.

To keep things completely clear for both members and Care Partners, we use a simple, three-tier status system:

Status Score Range Action Protocol
Green 70–100 Stable: Automated system reviews and weekly Care Partner check-ins.
Amber 50–69 Active Monitoring: A Care Partner will make direct contact within 24 hours.
Red Below 50 Escalation: Immediate clinical review and same-day medical escalation.

Moving Beyond the Healthcare “Snapshot”

Traditional healthcare in Nigeria, and across most of the world, is built on isolated snapshots. You visit a clinic, get a reading, and that data point sits in isolation until your next appointment. The Rikenda Health Profile is the opposite. It is a living baseline that transforms scattered data points into a continuous, predictable health trajectory. The difference between a snapshot and a trajectory is central to how Rikenda approaches chronic disease management.

We are currently preparing for our pilot. Our founding cohort programme is launching soon, and this Health Profile will be the very first thing our pioneer members experience.
